## What does holding YUSD actually do?
Aegis YUSD (YUSD) is a stablecoin designed to track the US dollar and earn yield for holders. Aegis says it backs YUSD with Bitcoin held in custodial vaults and uses Bitcoin-margined perpetual contracts to offset changes in Bitcoin’s price. The project’s yield strategy is based on funding fees from those contracts.
That is a different risk profile from a dollar held in a bank account or a stablecoin backed only by cash-like reserves. The strategy depends on the hedge working as intended and on perpetual-market conditions. Funding rates can change, and the project does not promise a fixed return. Check how yield is earned and distributed before counting on it: Aegis does not publish whether holders receive more YUSD, a change in token value, or yield through a separate product.
## Which wallet and chain should you use for YUSD?
YUSD is issued on Ethereum, Avalanche and BNB Chain. It is not listed as the native token of any of those networks. To hold it yourself, use a wallet that supports the specific network where your YUSD is issued, and make sure you can access that network’s tokens for transaction fees.
A token with the same symbol on another chain may not be the Aegis-issued YUSD you intend to hold. Before sending funds or interacting with a contract, verify the network and token contract through Aegis’s official channels. Do not rely on the ticker alone. Also check whether a wallet, exchange or DeFi service supports deposits and withdrawals on the exact chain you plan to use. A balance shown on one network does not automatically mean you can use or withdraw it on another; moving tokens across chains may require a supported bridge or exchange, with added risks and costs.
## Is YUSD always worth one dollar?
As of 2026-11-08, YUSD had about 34.6 million tokens in circulation and about 34.6 million total supply. A maximum supply is not published, so the supply could change. On that date, the reported price was about $1.00, at roughly $0.9975 per YUSD. These are snapshots, not a promise that each token can always be redeemed for one dollar.
Aegis aims to maintain a 1:1 dollar peg, but the market price can move away from that target. Before treating YUSD as cash-like savings, find out whether you can redeem directly, what assets are accepted, and what conditions apply. Aegis does not publish its redemption terms. If you can only sell through a market, the price you receive may differ from $1, especially when liquidity is limited.
## What could put YUSD’s peg or reserves at risk?
YUSD combines several risks: Bitcoin reserve custody, smart contracts and a derivatives hedge. Aegis says Bitcoin is held in custodial vaults, but it does not publish custodian names or the specific controls for accessing those reserves. Custody problems, operational failures or a shortfall in reserves could undermine confidence in the peg. Smart-contract bugs or compromised keys could also disrupt transfers or protocol operations.
The hedge is not risk-free. Perpetual contracts can involve funding costs, exchange or counterparty exposure, and liquidation risk if collateral or hedge positions are not managed effectively. A delta-neutral strategy is intended to offset Bitcoin price movements; it does not eliminate every loss scenario. Aegis does not publish its hedge controls or fees. Before relying on YUSD, look for current reserve reporting, independent audits, clear redemption rules and an explanation of how positions are monitored. Do not assume the word “backed” means instant, unconditional access to Bitcoin or dollars.
## What should you check before keeping YUSD?
Before holding YUSD, check whether its role fits your needs and whether you can tolerate a temporary loss of the dollar peg or difficulty withdrawing. Use this checklist:
- Confirm the correct token contract and network before depositing.
- Find out how redemption works, including any limits, timing and fees.
- Check how the Bitcoin reserves and perpetual positions are monitored, and whether independent audits or reserve reports are available.
- Confirm how any yield is calculated, paid and changed over time; do not treat it as guaranteed.
- Keep wallet recovery details secure and test your setup with a small transfer if appropriate.
If you hold YUSD in a self-custody wallet, protect your seed phrase offline and never share it. If you use an exchange or DeFi service, you also take on that provider’s custody, smart-contract and withdrawal risks. A stablecoin can still lose value or become hard to redeem.

Aegis YUSD in numbers
Aegis YUSD (YUSD) is ranked #577 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $34.5M and a price of $0.9975 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($34.5M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

24-hour trading volume was about $13.3K, or 0.0% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
YUSD has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

YUSD FAQs
What backs Aegis YUSD?
Aegis says YUSD is backed by Bitcoin held in custodial vaults and uses Bitcoin-margined perpetual contracts to hedge price movements. That design aims to keep the token near $1, but it does not guarantee the peg or direct redemption.
Which networks support YUSD?
YUSD is issued on Ethereum, Avalanche and BNB Chain. Use a wallet that supports the specific network and verify the token contract before sending funds; the ticker alone is not enough.
How does YUSD generate yield?
Aegis’s stated strategy earns yield from perpetual-contract funding fees, which can change with market conditions. Aegis does not publish whether holders receive yield as additional tokens, through a change in token value, or via a separate product.
Can you redeem YUSD for one dollar?
No. Aegis targets a 1:1 dollar value, but market prices can move away from $1 and redemption access may depend on the project’s terms. Aegis does not publish its redemption terms.
