What can you do with USDtb?

USDtb is an Ethereum-based stablecoin intended to represent one U.S. dollar. Ethena describes it as backed by short-duration Treasury assets, including BlackRock’s BUIDL tokenized fund. You can hold it, transfer it, or use it where exchanges and DeFi applications support USDtb. Ethena says the token is composable across DeFi and is integrated as collateral at centralized exchange and prime-broker venues, but availability depends on each platform.

The project also promotes direct minting and redemption around the clock. That could be useful if you need to move between USDtb and dollars through the issuer rather than relying only on exchange trading. However, Ethena does not set out public eligibility rules, minimums or processing details in its main product messaging. The fact that a stablecoin is designed to track a dollar does not guarantee that it will always trade at exactly $1, particularly during market stress or when redemption access is limited.

What could USDtb cost you?

Ethena does not publish a single fee schedule for buying, holding, minting or redeeming USDtb in its public product messaging. If you obtain it on Ethereum, you will generally pay network gas for onchain transfers and DeFi actions. Exchanges may charge trading, withdrawal or conversion fees, and a market price can differ from $1, creating an additional cost when you buy or sell.

Using USDtb in a lending market can bring protocol-specific costs and risks; lending rates and rewards can change, and promotional incentives are not guaranteed. Ethena has announced reward campaigns through partners, but those offers depend on the relevant platform and may have separate conditions. Don’t treat a third-party advertised rate as a guaranteed return from USDtb itself.

Before minting or redeeming directly, confirm any fees, minimums and eligibility with Ethena. Compare the total cost with buying or selling through a venue you already use, including gas and withdrawal charges. If you cannot find clear terms for the route you plan to use, avoid sending a large amount until you have confirmed them.

How much should you trust USDtb’s backing?

USDtb’s value depends on more than the dollar peg: you also rely on Ethena’s operations, the reserve structure, custodians and access to redemption. Ethena says reserves include BUIDL, a tokenized fund that invests in cash and U.S. Treasury securities. BUIDL has its own service providers and whitelist requirements, so its investor and transfer rules should not be confused with the terms for holding USDtb.

Ethena’s site says its smart contracts have undergone audits and that it provides monthly attestations and a live reserves dashboard. It does not identify audit firms or reports in that public statement, so check for named, recent documents and inspect the reserve information before relying on the claims. A listing of zero audits does not prove that no audit occurred, but the public claims are not enough to establish the scope or results of any review.

Ethena’s site describes a partnership with Anchorage Digital and a planned move toward U.S. regulated payment-stablecoin status. A market-data listing describes issuance through Anchorage Digital Bank N.A.; those descriptions do not fully clarify the current legal issuer or regulatory status. Treat USDtb as a crypto asset, not an insured bank deposit.

How do you get and use USDtb on Ethereum?

You can use USDtb through an Ethereum-compatible wallet, an exchange that lists the token, or a DeFi application that supports it. Make sure the receiving platform supports USDtb specifically, not a similarly named stablecoin. Ethereum transfers require gas, and sending to an unsupported network or address can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.

Ethena says it offers 24/7 direct mint and redeem access, but that does not by itself explain whether every holder can use the facility. Confirm the current process, eligibility requirements, redemption currency, minimums and settlement timing before relying on direct redemption. If you plan to use an exchange or lending market instead, check its own custody and withdrawal rules; those are separate from the token issuer’s arrangements.

For a first transfer, use a small test amount and wait for confirmation before sending more. Keep enough ETH for network fees if you are using your own wallet. Mobile support and any dedicated app are not specified in Ethena’s product messaging, so use a wallet or platform you already know and verify the token contract through Ethena’s official materials.

When might USDtb be the wrong stablecoin for you?

USDtb’s main trade-off is that its backing and redemption arrangements are less straightforward than holding dollars in a bank account. Tokenized Treasury fund exposure, issuer and custodian arrangements, smart contracts, and onchain market liquidity all introduce risks. A dollar target is not a guarantee of a fixed market price or immediate access to dollars.

You should also distinguish USDtb from ENA, Ethena’s ecosystem token. USDtb is the dollar stablecoin; ENA is not the stablecoin you would hold to represent a dollar. Check the asset name and contract address carefully whenever you buy or transfer either token.

Ethena does not publish clear public details on user eligibility, direct redemption charges, or named audit reports in its product messaging. That makes USDtb a poor fit if you need transparent redemption terms, deposit insurance, or a simple cash substitute. If you decide to use it, keep exposure proportionate to what you can afford to have temporarily inaccessible, and review the reserve and redemption information again before increasing your balance.
