Is it for you?

Who Beaver suits

Good for

  • Canadians buying bitcoin with Interac e-Transfer, bill payment or a wire

Not for

  • People who want to buy or hold Bitcoin inside an exchange account; Beaver sends BTC to your own wallet

  • Anyone unwilling to provide a government ID, address, job title and selfie
  • Users who need clearly published audit, custody or detailed regulatory information before trusting a service

What can you buy through Beaver Bitcoin?

Beaver is a Canadian Bitcoin on-ramp: you send Canadian dollars and receive BTC at a Bitcoin wallet address you provide. It lists instant, large and recurring purchases, and describes Interac e-Transfer, bill payment and wires as payment options. The service is aimed at buying and holding bitcoin in a wallet you control, rather than keeping a balance in an exchange account. You need to arrange your own wallet before making a purchase.

Beaver also lists a Plaid option, but does not explain the exact steps or terms for that method on its homepage. The site advertises e-Transfer purchases with delivery in minutes and says a morning wire can result in bitcoin in your wallet by evening. Treat those as advertised timeframes, not a guarantee: payment processing and Bitcoin network conditions can affect when a transfer completes. If you want to sell BTC back to CAD, the service’s public description does not explain a sale or cash-out feature.

What will Beaver’s 1.5% fee cost you?

Beaver states a 1.5% fee and says it pays the Bitcoin network fee each time it delivers BTC. That gives you a clear headline cost, and means the network fee is not presented as an extra charge to you. The final amount of bitcoin you receive still depends on the exchange quote shown when you place the order, so compare the CAD amount and BTC amount before you authorize payment.

There is an important wrinkle: Beaver’s homepage calculator displays a Bitcoin price of CA$0. That is not a meaningful live quote. Do not rely on that display to decide how much BTC you will receive; get a valid quote through the purchase flow and check the full amount before sending funds. The homepage does not explain whether any other charges, such as payment-method-specific fees or limits, apply. Confirm those details for your chosen method before committing, especially for a large purchase.

How much should you trust Beaver with a purchase?

Beaver says it delivers bitcoin to a wallet you control, which is different from leaving BTC with a trading platform. That does not tell you how Beaver holds or protects funds while processing a purchase, however. Its homepage lists FINTRAC registration number N300000998, but registration should not be read as a guarantee of funds, an endorsement or proof that the service is risk-free. Beaver does not publish an audit or detailed custody information there, and the page does not identify an insurance or customer-compensation arrangement.

Beaver’s identity checks require a photo of valid government ID, your address, job title and a selfie. Consider whether you are comfortable sharing this information before signing up, and review the service’s terms and privacy policy to understand handling and retention. Use a wallet address you have checked carefully, and never share your wallet recovery phrase with Beaver or anyone claiming to provide support. Keep your payment confirmation and order details until the BTC arrives.

How do you buy BTC and receive it in your wallet?

To get started, you need a Bitcoin wallet that can receive BTC. After you sign up, Beaver says you verify your account and provide your wallet address, then transfer CAD using your preferred payment method. Once the funds are exchanged, Beaver sends bitcoin to that address. Its listed methods include Interac e-Transfer, bill payment and wires; the homepage also lists Plaid, without explaining its process in detail.

The website is described as mobile-friendly, but Beaver says it does not have a mobile app. You can use the site in a phone browser, but check the address bar and avoid entering identity or payment details through messages or unofficial pages. Before sending money, confirm the wallet address is for Bitcoin and that it belongs to you. Review the quote and the expected BTC amount, then follow Beaver’s payment instructions exactly. Keep in mind that advertised delivery speeds are not guaranteed and may depend on the payment route.

Where does Beaver fall short?

Beaver’s main trade-off is that it is a buy-and-deliver service, not a full crypto account. You must bring your own wallet, and the homepage does not describe selling bitcoin, holding other assets or transferring funds between a Beaver balance and a bank account. Although large and recurring purchases are listed, the details of their limits and scheduling are not explained there. Check the order flow and terms for the rules that apply to your purchase.

The service also has no mobile app, and its displayed price widget currently shows CA$0, so you need to obtain a working quote before making a decision. Public details about audits and how customer funds are handled during processing are limited. If you need a service with published custody controls, a wider selection of coins, or detailed withdrawal and purchase limits, compare alternatives before depositing. For any large transfer, confirm the payment instructions and final delivery amount with Beaver through its official support channels first.
