Zkp2p Review: Is Peer Worth Using in 2026?
Zkp2p, now branded Peer, is a peer-to-peer crypto ramp that matches buyers with sellers and settles crypto through onchain escrow. Its appeal is paying with familiar apps without an extra identity check from Peer; check the fees, payment method and local rules before trading.

Quick take
Peer suits people who want to trade crypto directly using payment apps such as Venmo, PayPal or Wise, with seller funds locked in onchain escrow. Its main draw is avoiding a conventional intermediary and an extra Peer identity check. Before depositing, check the order’s full exchange rate and payment instructions: sellers set their own spreads, fees may apply, and a mistaken or disputed fiat payment can be difficult to reverse.

What can you actually do with Zkp2p?
Zkp2p is now branded Peer. It is a peer-to-peer on/off-ramp: you choose an offer, pay another person through a supported fiat payment app, and receive crypto after the payment is verified. In the reverse direction, you deposit crypto, set the payment methods and currencies you accept, and receive fiat from a buyer directly in your own account.
The core flow described by Peer uses USDC. When a buyer starts an order, the seller’s USDC is locked in an onchain smart contract. After payment verification, the contract releases the crypto to the buyer. Peer’s homepage also lists other tokens, but availability can depend on the app surface and route, so check the actual offer before committing.
This setup can be useful if you already use a supported payment service and want a direct fiat-to-crypto route. It is not the same as buying from an exchange: your trade depends on another user’s offer, their payment details and the verification process.
What will a Peer trade cost you?
Peer says buyers pay a taker service fee of up to 0.95% per order. If you bridge assets to another chain, a bridge fee of up to 0.5% may also apply. Sellers set their own rates, so the spread between their rate and the market price is another cost to compare before you accept an offer. Sellers keep the spread they set.
The final amount can also depend on the fiat payment route, the selected offer and any network or bridge costs involved. Peer does not publish one fixed all-in price that applies to every trade. Compare the amount of fiat you will send with the exact crypto amount you will receive, rather than judging an offer by its quoted rate alone.
For sellers, setting a wider spread may compensate for providing liquidity, but it can make an offer less attractive to buyers. Check the rate and order terms each time; they are set by individual sellers and can vary.
How much protection does the escrow give you?
The arrangement is non-custodial in the sense that Peer says it does not hold, control or transmit user funds. Crypto for an active order is locked in a smart contract, while fiat moves directly between the buyer and seller through their chosen payment service. That reduces reliance on a company holding both sides of the transaction, but it does not eliminate risk.
Payment verification is an important dependency. Peer describes private verification and its protocol documentation describes an attestation service that checks payment evidence in an AWS Nitro Enclave before signing an attestation for contract settlement. This means the process is not simply a fully onchain check: you are also relying on the verification system and the relevant contract logic.
Peer does not publish a licence or smart-contract audit in the information reviewed here. Treat escrow as a safeguard, not a guarantee. If you are asked to release funds manually, confirm the exact payment is final in your own payment account and matches the order before taking action.
Which payment apps and wallets can you use?
Peer lists payment options including Venmo, PayPal, Revolut, Cash App, Zelle, Wise, Monzo, Chime, Alipay, X Money and UPI. The available methods may differ between the web app, mobile app and particular trade flows, so confirm that your preferred option appears in the order you intend to use. Peer also lists a range of crypto assets, while its main buy-and-sell instructions center on USDC.
You can connect a wallet or sign in with email or social accounts. Peer says it is available on mobile, but publishes no general settlement-time guarantee: timing varies with the payment rail, verification, onchain release and any bridge route. Your payment provider may also apply its own limits, checks or processing delays.
Peer says the payment is verified privately and that sensitive account details are not published onchain. Its described process shares the amount, recipient and timestamp needed to settle the trade. Read the order instructions carefully and use only an account and payment method that belong to you.
What should you check before trading?
Peer’s no-additional-check claim does not mean every part of a transaction is free of checks: payment apps can apply their own identity, account and transfer rules. Nor does it establish that every user can legally trade through every payment method. Check the online financial-service and crypto rules where you live, and read the terms of the payment app you plan to use.
The main practical risk is a mismatch between the order and the fiat transfer. Follow the seller’s instructions exactly, verify recipient details, and do not release crypto based only on a screenshot or message. A payment can be delayed, challenged or reversed under a payment provider’s rules even after it appears to have arrived. Avoid trades you cannot afford to lose access to while an order is locked.
Peer identifies the operating company as P2P Labs Inc, but does not publish a licence or audit in the information reviewed here. Start with a small trade, check the displayed expiry and cancellation terms, and do not assume an escrow contract can resolve every offchain dispute.
