What can you use USST for?
USST is intended to stay close to one U.S. dollar and can be used as a dollar-denominated token in supported crypto applications. STBL describes it as backed by tokenized real-world assets, including U.S. Treasuries and money-market funds. The stated examples include BlackRock BUIDL, Ondo USDY and Franklin Templeton BENJI.
That backing does not make USST the same as a bank deposit or a direct holding of Treasury bills. You hold a token whose value depends on the STBL system, the underlying assets and the ability to trade or redeem USST. The project describes USST as an on-chain asset that can connect institutional yield products with DeFi liquidity; that does not mean every DeFi service accepts it or that holders automatically receive yield.
Before using USST, check the specific app’s supported token contract, deposit and withdrawal rules, and any redemption terms. Do not assume a quoted value of $1 guarantees that you can sell or redeem at exactly that amount.
Which chain and wallet should you use for USST?
USST is listed as issued on Ethereum. The token facts do not identify another supported chain, so do not assume a USST on a different network is genuine or interchangeable. If you are transferring it, confirm the network and token contract with the destination platform before sending; a network mismatch can make funds inaccessible.
An Ethereum-compatible wallet that supports custom tokens may be able to display USST, but wallet support alone does not confirm that a token is authentic. Verify the contract address through an official STBL channel, and check that the receiving wallet or exchange accepts that exact token on Ethereum. A transfer may require ETH to pay Ethereum network fees; fees vary with network demand and are separate from any platform charges.
If USST is held on an exchange, the exchange controls the keys and its withdrawal rules apply. In a self-custody wallet, you control the keys and are responsible for securing them. Never share your seed phrase or sign a transaction you do not understand.
How much USST exists, and what could break its peg?
As of 2026-11-08, USST’s circulating and total supply were each about 2.27 million tokens, with a stated maximum supply of 8 million. Its reported price was about $1, putting its market capitalization and fully diluted valuation at about $2.3 million. These are time-specific figures, not a promise that USST will remain at $1 or that you can trade the full supply at that price.
A stablecoin peg can slip if buyers and sellers are imbalanced, market liquidity dries up, confidence in backing weakens, or redemptions are limited. The token’s stated backing also brings risks beyond ordinary crypto price swings: tokenized assets may have issuer, custody, legal, operational or access restrictions. DeFi integrations can add smart-contract and platform risks.
The project description does not establish that every holder can directly redeem USST for dollars or the underlying assets. Check the current redemption process, eligibility requirements and fees before relying on redemption as a way to exit.
How can you store USST without overlooking the risks?
For self-custody, use a reputable wallet, keep its recovery phrase offline and never enter it into a website or send it to someone claiming to offer support. Consider a hardware wallet if you hold an amount that justifies the extra setup. Test a small transfer first, and confirm the network and token contract before moving a larger balance.
If you use a DeFi app, check the permissions requested by each transaction. Token approvals can allow a contract to move USST from your wallet; revoke approvals you no longer need using a trusted wallet feature or tool. A malicious link, counterfeit token, compromised device, faulty contract or mistaken transaction can result in irreversible loss.
USST also carries issuer and collateral risks: the token’s value depends on the backing arrangements and the systems that represent and manage those assets. The project does not publish an audit in the token facts. Do not treat the dollar target as a guarantee, and avoid keeping funds in a protocol or wallet you cannot afford to lose access to.
