What does holding PAXG give you?

PAXG gives you a digital claim tied to physical gold held in vaults, rather than a claim on a fixed amount of US dollars. Each token is intended to represent one fine troy ounce of a London Good Delivery gold bar held by Paxos Trust Company. Paxos says holders have ownership rights to that gold, and its lookup tool can show the bar’s serial number, value and physical characteristics for a wallet address.

You can hold a fraction of a token, so you do not need to own a whole bar to have gold exposure. PAXG can also be transferred as a crypto asset and used where supported, including on some exchanges or decentralized applications. Those uses depend on the platform; they do not change the gold backing or guarantee that a third party will accept the token.

PAXG is not a fiat-backed stablecoin. Its dollar value can rise or fall with gold prices, and its market price may not match the gold value exactly at every moment.

Which wallets and chains support PAXG?

PAXG is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum. You can hold it in an Ethereum wallet that supports ERC-20 tokens, or leave it with a crypto exchange or other custodian that supports PAXG. With a self-custody wallet, you control the keys; losing them or sending tokens to the wrong address can mean losing access. With a custodian, you rely on that provider to safeguard and release your balance.

Check that a wallet or platform supports PAXG specifically, not just Ethereum or gold-linked assets in general. Confirm the receiving network before sending: selecting the wrong network or an incompatible address can strand funds. PAXG’s stated issuance is on Ethereum, so do not assume that a token using the same name on another chain is an official Paxos-issued token. A bridged or wrapped version may introduce additional risks tied to the bridge or issuer.

For a self-custody transfer, keep your recovery phrase offline and private. Never share it with a person or site claiming it needs the phrase to verify your gold ownership.

What sets PAXG’s value and supply?

PAXG’s value is linked to gold, so movements in the gold market are a major influence. Supply and demand for PAXG, exchange liquidity and the cost or availability of conversion can also affect its market price. The token is not guaranteed to trade at precisely the spot value of one ounce at all times.

As of November 8, 2026, about 447,723 PAXG were in circulation, matching the reported total supply; no fixed maximum supply is reported. The dollar market capitalization was about $1.82 billion on that date. These figures can change. For an asset-backed token, supply can respond to issuance and redemption activity, but check current issuer information rather than assuming every token can be converted immediately on identical terms.

Paxos describes conversion on its platform between PAXG and allocated gold, unallocated gold or fiat currency. That is different from an exchange trade, and availability, eligibility, timing and charges may depend on the route. Do not treat a quoted exchange price as a guaranteed redemption value.

How can you get and store PAXG?

You may encounter PAXG through crypto exchanges, supported wallets or Paxos’s own platform. Which routes are available depends on where you live and on each provider’s current policies. Compare the displayed PAXG price with the gold value it represents, and check trading spreads, deposit or withdrawal charges, and any account requirements before using a service. This is general information, not a recommendation to buy.

If you already hold PAXG, choose between a custodian and self-custody based on how you manage access and security. A custodian may make account recovery easier but can restrict withdrawals or become unavailable. A self-custody wallet gives you control of the keys, while making you responsible for backups, device security and correct transactions.

Physical-gold or fiat conversion is not the same as sending tokens to a wallet. Paxos describes conversion options on its platform, but your eligibility and the applicable minimums, process and charges should be checked with Paxos before relying on redemption. Owning a token does not by itself guarantee delivery of a particular bar to your door.

What does it cost to move or convert PAXG?

An Ethereum transfer generally requires a network fee, often called gas, paid in ETH. The amount varies with network demand and the transaction’s complexity; it is not a fixed PAXG fee. Your wallet should show an estimate before you confirm. Keep enough ETH available to cover the transaction, and check the fee and destination address carefully before sending.

If you hold PAXG on an exchange, the platform may set its own withdrawal minimums and charges. Trading PAXG can also involve a spread or trading fee. For Paxos conversions or redemptions, check the current route-specific terms: Paxos does not publish one universal fee or minimum that applies to every method.

Bridging PAXG to another network, where a service offers that option, can add bridge fees and risks such as smart-contract failure or a delay in withdrawals. It can also leave you holding a wrapped representation rather than the Ethereum-issued token. Compare the costs and risks before moving funds; a low displayed fee does not make an unsupported route safe.

What can go wrong when you hold PAXG?

PAXG combines crypto custody risks with risks tied to a gold-backed product. You rely on Paxos and its custody arrangements for the underlying gold, and on the issuer’s processes for maintaining backing and handling conversions. Check current issuer disclosures and any applicable terms; a token balance is not the same as personally possessing a bar.

There are also ordinary blockchain risks. A mistaken address, compromised wallet, lost recovery phrase or faulty smart contract can make tokens inaccessible. Exchange balances add counterparty and withdrawal risks. Third-party lending or yield services may expose you to losses beyond changes in gold’s price, and using PAXG in an application does not guarantee that you can withdraw it on demand.

PAXG can lose dollar value if gold falls, and trading prices can diverge from the value of the underlying gold. Conversion may have eligibility rules, delays, minimums or costs. Before relying on redemption, verify the current conditions directly with Paxos. Be cautious of anyone promising guaranteed returns, asking for your recovery phrase, or claiming that a token on another chain is official without confirming its issuer.

What does PAXG’s price history tell you?

PAXG is a tokenized-gold product issued on Ethereum, with each token intended to represent one fine troy ounce of vaulted London Good Delivery gold. A specific launch date is not stated in the project description. Its design gives holders fractional exposure to gold in a transferable token form, while keeping custody and conversion tied to Paxos.

The market history shows that PAXG’s dollar price can vary substantially. Its reported all-time low was about $1,400 on November 17, 2019, and its reported all-time high was about $5,619 on January 28, 2026. On November 8, 2026, its price was about $4,059. These figures are historical snapshots, not forecasts or guarantees of future value.

When comparing PAXG with other ways to hold gold, consider what matters to you: token transferability, custody, redemption rules and fees, as well as the risks of holding physical gold or a conventional financial product. A gold-linked token can simplify some transfers, but it does not remove market or issuer risk.

By the numbers

PAX Gold in numbers

PAX Gold (PAXG) is ranked #50 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $1.82B and a price of $4,059 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($1.82B) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was up 4.1% over 7 days, down 2.8% over 30 days, up 1.6% over the past year. It trades about 28% below its all-time high of $5,619, set on Jan 28, 2026.

About 447.72K PAXG are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $32.0M, or 1.8% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

PAXG has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

PAXG FAQs

Is PAXG a stablecoin?

No. PAXG is intended to represent one fine troy ounce of gold, so its dollar value moves with gold rather than staying fixed at $1. Its market price can also differ from the value of the gold it represents.

Can you redeem PAXG for physical gold?

Paxos describes conversion options on its platform, but token ownership alone does not guarantee delivery of a physical bar. Check current eligibility, minimums, process and charges with Paxos before relying on physical redemption.

Which blockchain is PAXG on?

PAXG is issued on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. Use a wallet or service that explicitly supports PAXG, and verify the network and destination address before sending.

What fees apply when transferring PAXG?

Ethereum transfers require gas paid in ETH, and the amount varies with network conditions. An exchange or conversion provider may also charge its own fees or set withdrawal and redemption requirements.

Does owning PAXG mean you own a gold bar?

Each token is intended to represent one fine troy ounce of vaulted gold, but that does not mean you personally possess a bar. Paxos holds the gold, and conversion or redemption depends on its current terms.

What is the market cap of PAX Gold?

As of Nov 8, 2026, PAX Gold had a market cap of about $1.82B, ranking #50 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
