What does holding METAC give you?
METAC is a tokenized security designed to give you economic exposure to Meta shares; it is not itself a Meta share. Coinbase Onchain SPV Ltd issues the token in the Abu Dhabi Global Market, and the underlying shares are held in a segregated custody account. Each token initially represents a 1:1 beneficial interest in shares, but that ratio can change to account for distributions, fees, taxes, corporate actions and other adjustments.
Distributions on the underlying shares are generally reinvested after applicable costs, with the benefit reflected through an adjustment to the share-to-token ratio. That is different from receiving a cash dividend directly. The token may be held, transferred on supported networks and used in DeFi markets, but access can depend on the product’s eligibility and transfer rules. Check the current issuer documents to understand what rights you have and whether you can acquire, transfer or redeem METAC.
Which network and wallet can hold METAC?
METAC is issued on Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network. The token is not native to Base in the sense of being the network’s gas currency; you need ETH on Base to pay transaction fees. The project facts identify Base as the issued chain, so do not assume METAC is available on Ethereum mainnet or another network.
For self-custody, use a wallet that supports Base and can display or manage the correct METAC token. Confirm the network and token contract address against official issuer information before adding or receiving it. A wrong address, unsupported network or fake token with the same ticker can lead to loss. If you keep METAC on an exchange or in a DeFi application, check that it supports this specific token and understand who controls access to your assets. Do not send it to a wallet or platform based only on a matching name or symbol.
How many METAC tokens exist, and what does supply mean?
As of 2026-11-08, reported circulating and total supply were both about 8,442.5 METAC. No maximum supply is reported. The supply figures do not tell you how many underlying shares are currently represented by each token: the share-to-token ratio may change as distributions, expenses, taxes and corporate actions are reflected.
The same date’s reported price was about $610 per token, with a market capitalization of about $5.2 million. These are moving market figures, not a guaranteed redemption value or a measure of how easily you can sell. Trading volume was about $3.9 million over the prior 24 hours, but liquidity can vary by venue and market conditions. Check current figures and the applicable share-to-token ratio before relying on a quoted price.
What could go wrong when you hold METAC?
METAC adds issuer, custody, legal and market risks to the usual risks of holding a crypto asset. The token represents an indirect beneficial interest through a structure; it is not direct ownership of Meta shares. Your rights depend on the governing documents and the operation of the issuer and related infrastructure. The underlying shares are held with a regulated broker-dealer and custodian, but that does not remove the possibility of operational, legal or counterparty problems.
You can also lose value if Meta shares fall, if the token trades away from the value implied by its underlying exposure, or if market liquidity dries up. Base transactions can fail or be delayed, and sending tokens to the wrong address can be irreversible. DeFi use introduces additional risks, including smart-contract exploits and liquidation. Before holding METAC, read the issuer’s terms, confirm eligibility and transfer restrictions, and consider whether you can tolerate losing some or all of the amount you commit.
