What does holding KAS let you do?

KAS is Kaspa’s native coin. You can use it to send value on the Kaspa network and pay network transaction fees. Kaspa uses proof of work and a BlockDAG consensus design called GHOSTDAG; its stated aim is to process transactions quickly while retaining proof-of-work security. Those design goals are not a guarantee of speed, security or adoption in every market condition.

Holding KAS does not by itself give you a share of a company, a right to project revenue or access to a fixed return. Kaspa has discussed smart-contract development through based rollups, but treat that as an ecosystem direction rather than a feature you automatically receive by holding the coin. Before relying on KAS for payments, check that the recipient supports Kaspa’s native network and that you can manage the wallet and transaction details correctly.

Which network and wallet should you use for KAS?

KAS lives natively on the Kaspa network. It is not an asset issued by another chain, so when you send native KAS, your wallet needs to support Kaspa—not merely a similarly named token on a different network. Some services may offer wrapped or bridged representations, but these are distinct from native KAS and add separate issuer, bridge and redemption risks.

For self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports Kaspa and keep your recovery phrase offline and private. A custodial exchange account is another way to hold exposure, but the provider controls the keys and may restrict withdrawals. Before receiving funds, confirm the asset and network shown by both wallets, and check any address format or memo requirements. Test with a small transfer if you are unsure; sending to an incompatible network or address can make funds difficult or impossible to recover.

How much KAS exists, and what can change its supply?

Kaspa has a maximum supply of about 28.7 billion KAS. As of 2026-11-08, about 27.8 billion were circulating, with total supply also close to that figure. The difference between circulating supply and the maximum is the remaining headroom for coins that may enter circulation under the protocol; it is not a promise about when that will happen. New issuance through mining and transfers between holders can change how much KAS is circulating or available to trade. Transfers do not create new coins. No burn mechanism or fixed timetable for future supply changes is established in these facts, so do not assume that supply will shrink.

Supply figures are not a measure of demand or a forecast of price. KAS was about $0.0295 on 2026-11-08, but that is only a dated snapshot and can change quickly. If you are comparing holdings over time, check the date and whether a figure refers to circulating, total or maximum supply.

How can you get and store KAS?

People generally obtain KAS through a crypto platform that lists it, by receiving it from another holder, or through mining. Availability, identity checks, payment methods and withdrawal limits depend on the service and your location; check those terms before sending money or transferring coins. This is general information, not a recommendation to buy or mine.

For storage, decide whether you want a provider to hold the keys or to manage them yourself. With self-custody, write down the recovery phrase and keep it somewhere secure and offline; anyone who gets the phrase may be able to take the funds. Never share it with support staff or enter it into an unexpected site or app. Make sure the wallet is intended for Kaspa, keep its software current, and confirm you can restore access before relying on it. If you use an exchange, check its KAS withdrawal support and account recovery process.

What does it cost to move KAS?

A native KAS transfer can involve a Kaspa network fee. The fee is separate from any charge an exchange or wallet provider may add, and the total cost can vary with network conditions and the service you use. Kaspa’s current fee amounts are not specified here, so check the fee shown in your wallet or withdrawal screen before confirming a transaction. Compare the displayed amount with the value you intend to send, especially for small transfers.

Sending KAS between compatible Kaspa addresses does not require a bridge. Moving value through a wrapped or bridged version can add bridge fees, conversion costs and extra steps, as well as reliance on the bridge or token issuer. Confirm which network a recipient accepts before transferring. A low advertised fee does not remove the risk of choosing the wrong network, entering an incorrect address or using a service that delays or suspends withdrawals.

What risks should you weigh before holding KAS?

KAS can be volatile. It was about $0.0295 as of 2026-11-08, down about 42.7% over the prior year in the supplied market snapshot; that historical movement does not indicate what happens next. The coin’s reported all-time high was about $0.2074 on 2024-07-31, and its all-time low was about $0.000171 on 2022-05-26. Those past prices are context, not targets or guarantees.

Other risks include mining concentration or a fall in network security, software defects, outages, changing exchange support, and loss of wallet keys. Kaspa’s faster-block and BlockDAG design is a technical approach, not proof that it will gain lasting use. Its stated ambition to support broader sequencing and rollup development may not translate into adoption. Consider whether you can tolerate losing the amount you hold, and avoid treating project goals or market-rank figures as evidence of future performance.

How did Kaspa start, and what is still an ambition?

Kaspa says it was fair-launched in November 2021 with no pre-mine, pre-sale or coin allocations, and describes the project as community-managed. Its core design combines proof of work with GHOSTDAG, a BlockDAG consensus protocol. In a BlockDAG, the system is designed to handle blocks in a directed acyclic graph rather than relying only on a single chain of blocks; the protocol determines how those blocks are ordered and accepted.

The project describes rapid block production, pruning and future support for subnetworks among its development aims. These are technical plans and claims, not guarantees that every feature is complete or that the network will achieve its stated ambitions. If the project’s history matters to your decision, distinguish the launch model from ongoing governance and development: a fair launch does not remove the risks of software changes, uneven participation or uncertain long-term adoption.

By the numbers

Kaspa in numbers

Kaspa (KAS) is ranked #79 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $821M and a price of $0.0295 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($821M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 9.7% over 7 days, down 25.2% over 30 days, down 42.7% over the past year. It trades about 86% below its all-time high of $0.2074, set on Jul 31, 2024.

About 27.8B KAS are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 28.7B (97% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $4.67M, or 0.6% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
