## What does holding Neo GAS let you do?
GAS is Neo’s utility token: you use it to pay fees for transactions and for running operations on the Neo network. Holding GAS can be useful if you regularly send Neo assets or use Neo-based applications, because you may need some available to cover those network charges.
GAS is separate from NEO, Neo’s other main token. NEO is associated with network governance; GAS is used to pay for network activity. Holding GAS by itself does not mean you own a share of Neo or receive a guaranteed return. Neo’s token-generation and distribution rules can allocate GAS to NEO holders, but the amount and conditions depend on the network’s rules and your holding setup.
The ticker GAS is used by other crypto projects, too. Check that a wallet or exchange identifies the asset as Neo GAS and lists Neo as its network. A matching ticker alone is not enough to ensure you are selecting the right token.
## Which network and wallets support Neo GAS?
The GAS covered here is issued on Neo. It is associated with the Neo network, rather than being a general-purpose fee token that works across all blockchains. A token held on an exchange may be represented in its account system; that does not necessarily mean you can send it directly on a different network.
For self-custody, choose a wallet that explicitly supports the relevant Neo network and GAS asset. NeoLine and Neon are examples of wallets associated with Neo assets, but check their current support and make sure you select the right network before depositing or sending. Exchange listings and wallet support can change.
If you are moving GAS from an exchange, confirm the withdrawal network on both sides. Sending a token to an address or network that cannot receive it can lead to a delayed or unrecoverable transfer. Keep your recovery phrase offline and never share it with someone claiming they need it to help you receive GAS.
## How is GAS supply created and distributed?
At the stated snapshot on November 8, 2026, GAS had about 65.1 million circulating tokens, the same as its reported total supply. No maximum supply was listed in that snapshot, so do not assume that the reported total is a hard cap. Supply figures can change as tokens are issued or otherwise accounted for on the network.
Neo’s design generates GAS through block production and distributes it under network rules. NEO holders may receive a share of generated GAS, but the timing and amount can depend on how the network distributes it and how your NEO is held. Holding GAS is not the same as holding NEO, and GAS holders should not assume they will automatically receive more GAS.
Token supply is only one factor that can affect market value. Demand for Neo network activity, exchange access, liquidity and broader crypto-market conditions can also matter. These factors can change, and none establishes what GAS will be worth later.
## How can you get and store GAS?
You can generally obtain Neo GAS through a crypto exchange that lists the correct asset, or receive it from another Neo-compatible wallet. Listings, trading pairs and withdrawal availability vary by provider and location. Before moving funds, check that the exchange calls the asset Neo GAS and supports withdrawals on the Neo network.
For self-custody, create or use a wallet that supports the appropriate Neo network, then store its recovery phrase securely offline. A custodial exchange holds the keys for you; a self-custody wallet puts key management on you. In either case, losing account access or a recovery phrase can put your tokens at risk.
If you already hold NEO, check the network’s current GAS distribution rules and whether your particular wallet or account arrangement qualifies. Do not treat possible GAS generation as a guaranteed yield. This is general information about access and storage, not a recommendation to buy or trade.
## What can a GAS transfer cost?
A GAS transfer can involve a Neo network fee, usually paid in GAS. The amount depends on the transaction and the network’s fee rules; it is not a fixed fee that applies to every transfer. Check the fee shown by your wallet before confirming, and keep enough GAS available if you plan to make further Neo transactions.
A withdrawal from an exchange may also carry a separate service charge or minimum, set by that provider. That charge is distinct from the on-chain fee. If a bridge is involved, you may face additional bridge charges, waiting time and smart-contract risk. The destination may receive a wrapped or bridged representation rather than native Neo GAS.
Before sending, verify the destination address, network and asset on both ends. A low quoted fee does not make an incompatible route safe. Sending through the wrong network or using an unsupported bridge can cause loss, and support teams may not be able to reverse a confirmed blockchain transaction.
## What could go wrong when you hold GAS?
GAS carries the usual risks of a crypto asset: its market price can fall sharply, trading may be thin, and you may not be able to sell or withdraw when you want. At the November 8, 2026 snapshot, GAS was about $1.08, but that is a dated figure, not a guide to its future value. Supply and market conditions can change.
There are also network and custody risks. A mistaken address or network choice can make a transfer difficult or impossible to recover. If you keep GAS on an exchange, you depend on that provider’s security, withdrawal policies and solvency. If you use a self-custody wallet, you are responsible for protecting the keys and recovery phrase.
Check that you are dealing with Neo GAS rather than another asset with the same ticker. Confirm the network, wallet support, exchange withdrawal rules and any bridge route before committing funds. Neo’s consensus should not be confused with proof-of-work mining: Neo uses delegated Byzantine Fault Tolerance, not mining based on token holdings.
## What is GAS’s history and how does it differ from generic gas?
GAS was created as one of Neo’s two main tokens, alongside NEO. Its core role is to pay for processing activity on Neo. The token has a longer market history than many newer network assets: its recorded all-time high was about $91.94 on January 14, 2018, and its recorded low was about $0.62 on March 12, 2020. Those past extremes do not predict future prices.
Neo’s token model links GAS generation to network activity and NEO ownership under its distribution rules. The amount distributed can change over time according to those rules; early descriptions of a fixed daily payout should not be treated as a current promise. Check the current Neo rules if GAS generation is important to your decision.
The name “gas” is also commonly used for transaction fees on other blockchains. That general term does not mean Neo GAS pays fees on Ethereum or every other network. For any transfer or application, identify the chain and token precisely.
By the numbers

Gas (GAS) is ranked #338 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $70.3M and a price of $1.08 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($70.3M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 10.9% over 7 days, down 18.6% over 30 days, down 58.3% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $91.94, set on Jan 14, 2018.
About 65.09M GAS are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.
24-hour trading volume was about $310K, or 0.4% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
GAS has token contracts on Neo. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

GAS FAQs
What is Neo GAS used for?
Neo GAS is used to pay transaction and processing fees on the Neo network. It does not automatically pay fees on other blockchains.
Is GAS the same as NEO?
No. GAS is Neo’s utility token, while NEO is its separate governance-associated token. Neo’s rules may distribute generated GAS to NEO holders, but holding GAS alone does not make you eligible for that distribution.
Which network is Neo GAS on?
The GAS described here is issued on Neo. Use a wallet that explicitly supports Neo GAS and confirm the network before you deposit or send; the ticker is also used by unrelated tokens.
Does sending GAS have a fee?
Neo network transactions can require a fee paid in GAS, and exchanges may charge a separate withdrawal fee. The exact amounts depend on the transaction and provider, so check them before confirming a transfer.
Is there a maximum supply of GAS?
Neo GAS has no maximum supply listed in the stated snapshot. Its supply can change through network issuance and accounting, so check current figures and rules rather than assuming the reported total is a cap.
What is the market cap of Gas?
As of Nov 8, 2026, Gas had a market cap of about $70.3M, ranking #338 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of GAS?
Gas's all-time high is $91.94, reached on Jan 14, 2018. Its all-time low is $0.6213 (Mar 12, 2020). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of GAS?
As of Nov 8, 2026, about 65.09M GAS were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
Which blockchains is GAS on?
It has token contracts on Neo.
