What can you use CHR for?

CHR is Chromia’s token, used within a blockchain platform built for decentralized applications. Chromia is a standalone Layer 1 and also offers EVM-compatible Layer 2 enhancements for Ethereum and BNB Chain. Its design gives each application its own sidechain, with developers able to choose how that app handles fees.

That means CHR is not necessarily the fee token you need for every Chromia app. One app may charge users in CHR, while another may reserve computing capacity by staking CHR and let users transact without paying a fee per transaction. CHR is also used for dApp hosting fees. Check the rules of the specific app before you transfer tokens or expect to use them for fees; the setup can vary by application.

Chromia uses a relational blockchain architecture and the Rell programming language, which is designed to handle structured data. Those features describe the platform, but they do not guarantee that a particular app will attract users or that CHR will retain value.

Which networks and wallets can hold CHR?

CHR is native to Chromia and has also been issued on Ethereum and BNB Chain. These are separate network versions of the token, so choose the network that matches the receiving wallet or exchange. Sending an Ethereum version to a Chromia-only address, or selecting the wrong network during a withdrawal, can leave funds inaccessible.

Before transferring, confirm the deposit network and token contract with the receiving service, then make sure your wallet supports that network and token. If you are moving CHR between networks, use a bridge or transfer method specifically supported by Chromia and check the destination address and network before approving. A small test transfer can help catch mistakes, though it may still involve fees.

A wallet that supports Ethereum or BNB Chain does not automatically support Chromia. Check Chromia-network compatibility separately. Never share your recovery phrase or private keys with a website, support agent, or anyone claiming they need them to process a transfer.

How much CHR exists, and what does that mean for you?

As of 2026-11-08, Chromia’s reported circulating and total supply are both about 974.8 million CHR. The maximum supply is about 978.1 million. These figures are close, but they are not identical: maximum supply is a stated ceiling, while circulating supply refers to tokens counted as available in the market.

Supply figures can change or be reported differently over time, so check current token data before relying on them. The same applies to market prices. On 2026-11-08, CHR was about $0.0147, with a market capitalization of roughly $14.3 million. Those are time-specific figures, not a guide to what the token may be worth later.

A limited maximum supply does not by itself create demand or protect a token’s price. Consider what you would use CHR for, how much price movement you could tolerate, and whether you can afford to lose the amount you hold.

How can you store CHR without making a costly mistake?

For self-custody, use a wallet that explicitly supports the network version of CHR you own. Keep your recovery phrase offline in a secure place, and do not enter it into a site or share it with anyone. Use a strong, unique device password and enable extra account protections where available. For a hardware wallet, confirm that it supports the relevant network and token before sending funds.

If you keep CHR on an exchange, the exchange controls the keys and may set its own withdrawal networks or availability. Check those details before depositing. For a transfer, compare the token, network, and destination address; sending a small test amount first may reduce the chance of a costly mistake.

Bridges and smart contracts introduce additional risks: bugs, exploits, operational failures, or a mistaken network choice can result in lost funds. A wallet protects access to your keys; it does not remove the risks of the blockchain, bridge, exchange, or app you use.

What risks should you weigh before holding CHR?

CHR’s value can move sharply, and a token’s past price does not establish what it will be worth in the future. The token’s usefulness also depends on activity across Chromia and the applications built on it. If developers or users do not adopt those applications, demand for CHR may be affected. Platform, software, and smart-contract problems could also disrupt applications or put funds at risk.

Cross-chain versions add another point of failure. A bridge may have separate security risks, and sending tokens on the wrong network can make recovery difficult or impossible. Exchange custody brings its own risks, including withdrawal restrictions or loss of access to an account.

Before holding CHR, check which network your tokens are on, what you intend to use them for, and whether you can handle a substantial loss. Do not rely on a displayed market price or supply figure as a promise of liquidity or future value.

By the numbers

Chromia in numbers

Chromia (CHR) is ranked #1,007 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $14.3M and a price of $0.0147 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($14.3M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 9.9% over 7 days, down 29.8% over 30 days, down 81.6% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $1.49, set on Nov 20, 2021.

About 974.83M CHR are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 978.06M (100% issued).

24-hour trading volume was about $724K, or 5.0% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

CHR is the native token of Chromia; it also has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups CHR under Layer 1 tokens, AI tokens, Real-world asset (RWA) tokens, NFT tokens.

CHR FAQs

What is CHR used for?

CHR is used for some transaction fees and dApp hosting fees. Some applications may instead use staked CHR to reserve computing capacity, so users do not necessarily pay a fee for each transaction.

Which blockchain is CHR on?

CHR is native to Chromia and has also been issued on Ethereum and BNB Chain. Check the network and token version supported by your wallet or exchange before sending it.

What is the maximum supply of CHR?

As of 2026-11-08, circulating and total supply were each about 974.8 million CHR, with a maximum supply of about 978.1 million. Supply figures can change or be reported differently over time.

How do you store CHR safely?

You can use a custodial exchange account or a self-custody wallet that supports the network version you hold. With self-custody, protect your recovery phrase offline and verify the network and address before every transfer.

Do you need CHR to use Chromia apps?

Some Chromia applications may use CHR for fees or hosting, but fee arrangements vary by application. Check the app’s current requirements before transferring CHR or expecting to pay fees with it.

What is the market cap of Chromia?

As of Nov 8, 2026, Chromia had a market cap of about $14.3M, ranking #1,007 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of CHR?

Chromia's all-time high is $1.49, reached on Nov 20, 2021. Its all-time low is $0.008740 (Mar 12, 2020). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of CHR?
