Owning BLD: Uses, Wallets and Risks

BLD is Agoric’s token for staking, network security and governance. If you hold it, you can delegate it to a validator to help secure the Agoric blockchain, or use it to take part in network decisions. Staking rewards may be available, but they are not guaranteed: validator performance, commissions and network rules can affect what you receive. Check the current terms before delegating, including how long tokens may be locked or take to withdraw.

BLD is not the same as a claim on Agoric’s business or a guaranteed share of network revenue. Its market value can move independently of how much the network is used. Treat governance rights as a way to participate, not as control over every project or application built on Agoric.

Agoric is a Cosmos-based blockchain, and BLD is its native token. Token listings also show BLD on Osmosis, Secret and Archway. Tokens on different networks may be separate representations, so do not assume that a BLD address or deposit method on one chain works on another.

Use a wallet that currently supports the Agoric network and the specific chain holding your BLD. Cosmos wallets such as Keplr may support Agoric, but check that Agoric and the right network are enabled before sending. Confirm the network, token denomination and destination address with the receiving wallet or exchange. A transfer to an unsupported network or address can be difficult or impossible to recover. If you use a bridge or exchange to move BLD between chains, check its supported routes and fees first; availability can change.

As of 2026-11-08, reported circulating supply is about 692.8 million BLD. Supply figures are inconsistent: one listing reports total supply as zero, while other token information has reported about 1 billion. No maximum supply is listed. Treat the total and future supply as uncertain rather than relying on a single figure.

On the same date, BLD was priced at about $0.0053, with a market capitalization of about $3.7 million and roughly $2,957 in 24-hour trading volume. These are snapshots, not stable valuations. That reported trading volume is low, so a larger order may be harder to execute near the displayed price, and the price can shift sharply. Check current market depth and the trading pair before placing an order; do not treat past highs or lows as a guide to future prices.

For self-custody, use a wallet that supports the exact Agoric or other BLD network you hold. Write down your recovery phrase offline and keep it somewhere private; anyone who obtains it may be able to control your tokens. Never share it with someone claiming to offer staking help or account support. A wallet password does not replace the recovery phrase.

Before a large transfer, send a small test amount if practical, and check the address and network on your device. Keep your device and wallet software updated, and consider a hardware wallet if it supports the relevant network. If you stake BLD, review the validator and delegation terms first. Delegating is not the same as transferring ownership, but it can introduce lockup, withdrawal-delay and validator risks. Exchange custody avoids managing a recovery phrase but leaves access dependent on the exchange.

BLD carries the usual crypto risks: its price can fall sharply, and low trading volume can make it harder to sell at a desired price. Agoric’s network, software or validators could also experience outages, bugs or security problems. Staking adds exposure to validator performance and network rules; rewards can change, and unstaking may take time.

Cross-chain transfers add another failure point. A bridge, exchange or token representation may be unavailable, compromised or incompatible with the destination wallet. Verify network details before sending, and be wary of unsolicited messages, fake staking sites and requests for your recovery phrase. Agoric does not publish a maximum supply in the figures available for this token, and supply reports conflict, which makes dilution harder to assess. Only commit funds you can afford to lose, and check current network and market conditions before acting.
