What does holding QRL let you do?
QRL is the native cryptocurrency of Quantum Resistant Ledger, a blockchain project designed around post-quantum cryptography. Holding QRL gives you the ability to send value on its network and pay transaction fees. The project also describes decentralized communication as part of its aims, but QRL is not simply a token for accessing a conventional app or service.
QRL uses proof of work and RandomX for its network consensus. Its post-quantum security approach uses XMSS signatures, which are designed to withstand attacks from both classical and quantum computers. That design is a security goal, not a guarantee that your funds or the whole system cannot be compromised. Wallet handling, software vulnerabilities and user mistakes still matter.
QRL’s stated focus is relatively specific: a cryptocurrency built with quantum-resistant signatures. Don’t assume that holding QRL gives you access to a broad set of decentralized finance apps or other services. Check that a wallet or service supports QRL on its own network before you rely on it.
Which chain and wallets support QRL?
QRL is the native coin of its own Quantum Resistant Ledger network, rather than an asset identified here as issued on Ethereum or another chain. The network uses proof of work and RandomX. Before sending, make sure the wallet’s network selection and receiving address are for QRL; a similar-looking address on another chain is not a substitute.
You can look for QRL support in dedicated QRL wallet software. A third-party QRL app has also been listed in Ledger Wallet, but app availability and support can change. Check the current wallet and device compatibility, and confirm that you can restore your funds with the recovery method you have secured. Don’t send QRL to an exchange or wallet deposit address until it explicitly says it accepts QRL on the QRL network.
A future project direction called Zond was described in 2024 as aiming to add features such as Web3 compatibility and proof of stake. That announcement does not mean QRL has moved to an Ethereum-compatible chain or that those features are available now. Treat QRL as a distinct network unless the project confirms a change.
How much QRL exists, and what can change it?
As of 2026-11-08, QRL’s circulating and total supply were both about 78.4 million, against a maximum supply of 105 million. The difference between circulating supply and the cap does not by itself tell you when or how any remaining coins will enter circulation; check the project’s current issuance rules rather than assuming a release schedule.
QRL uses proof of work, and mining is one way new coins may be generated under the network’s rules. The exact rewards and their future changes should be checked against current protocol information. The supply figures are not a promise about market value or demand.
For context, QRL traded at about $0.96 and had a market capitalization of about $75.5 million on 2026-11-08. Its reported seven-day change was roughly -20% and its one-year change roughly -30% on that date. These are snapshots, not forecasts; price, volume and market capitalization can move quickly. The project’s stated all-time high was $3.87 on 2018-01-08, and its all-time low was about $0.041 on 2023-12-01.
How do people get and store QRL?
People generally obtain QRL through a crypto exchange that supports deposits and withdrawals on the QRL network, or through mining where available. Exchange listings, trading pairs and withdrawal availability vary by country and platform, so verify the exact asset and network before you transfer funds. A deposit address for a wrapped or similarly named asset may not accept native QRL.
To store QRL, use a wallet that explicitly supports the QRL network. Keep your recovery phrase or other wallet recovery material offline and private; anyone who gets it may be able to control the funds. Check that you can restore access before relying on a wallet for long-term storage, and never enter recovery details into an unsolicited site or message.
XMSS signatures have state-management requirements. Use wallet software that correctly manages signing state, and follow its backup and recovery instructions carefully. Don’t assume that importing the same wallet into multiple apps is harmless; confirm the wallet’s documented process first. These are general handling considerations, not a recommendation to acquire QRL.
What does it cost to move QRL?
Sending native QRL involves a transaction fee on the QRL network. The fee can depend on network conditions and transaction details; check the wallet’s fee display before confirming. A receiving platform may also set a minimum deposit or charge its own withdrawal fee, which is separate from the network fee. QRL does not publish a fixed fee amount that applies to every transaction.
Bridging is a separate process from sending QRL on its own network. No specific supported bridge or wrapped-QRL route is established here, so don’t assume you can move QRL to an EVM chain or that a similarly named token is equivalent. If you consider a bridge, verify that it officially supports the asset and destination network, and account for bridge charges, destination-chain gas and the possibility of bridge failure.
For a straightforward transfer, compare the fee shown by your wallet or platform with the amount you intend to send. Send a small test amount first when appropriate, but remember that even a test transfer can incur fees and that a mistaken or unsupported transfer may not be recoverable.
What risks should you weigh before holding QRL?
QRL’s quantum-resistant design is a stated security aim, not a guarantee of perfect protection. Software bugs, compromised devices, phishing and weak recovery practices can still put your funds at risk. The XMSS signature approach also makes correct state management important: use supported wallet software and follow its backup instructions rather than experimenting with keys or wallet imports.
QRL is a relatively small crypto asset, and its market price can fall sharply. Trading volume was about $95,000 over 24 hours on 2026-11-08, so liquidity may be limited compared with larger cryptocurrencies. A thin market can make it harder to trade at the price you expect. Don’t treat a past high, a security claim or a market-cap figure as evidence of future performance.
Check the network carefully before sending or receiving. Exchange withdrawals may be paused, and assets sent to an incompatible address or chain can be difficult or impossible to recover. Also be cautious of unofficial wallets, fake support accounts and offers that promise guaranteed returns or claim to provide special quantum protection.
How did QRL develop?
Quantum Resistant Ledger launched on 2018-06-26. Its founding concept was to address the possibility that future quantum computers could threaten cryptographic signatures used by established cryptocurrencies. QRL’s design uses XMSS, a post-quantum signature scheme, and the network uses proof of work with RandomX.
The project’s history includes a proposed next-generation effort called Zond. In 2024, Zond was described as aiming to bring features including Web3 compatibility and a proof-of-stake protocol. That is a development direction, not proof that the original QRL network has already changed its consensus or that Zond features are currently live. Check project updates before relying on a roadmap item.
The project’s long-running focus on quantum resistance may matter to you if that risk is a priority. It does not remove the ordinary risks of owning crypto: price volatility, custody mistakes, software issues and uncertainty about adoption. Judge the network by its current operation and wallet support, not by the label “quantum-resistant” alone.
By the numbers
Quantum Resistant Ledger in numbers
Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL) is ranked #317 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $75.5M and a price of $0.9629 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($75.5M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 20.1% over 7 days, down 15.1% over 30 days, down 30.2% over the past year. It trades about 75% below its all-time high of $3.87, set on Jan 8, 2018.
About 78.39M QRL are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 105M (75% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $95.3K, or 0.1% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

QRL FAQs
What is QRL used for?
QRL is the native coin of the Quantum Resistant Ledger network. It is designed for transfers on that network and for paying network transaction fees.
Is QRL quantum-resistant?
QRL uses proof of work and RandomX, with XMSS signatures as its post-quantum security approach. These design choices do not guarantee that wallets, software or user funds are immune to attack.
Which wallet supports QRL?
QRL runs on its own network, so use a wallet that explicitly supports the QRL chain. A third-party QRL app has been listed in Ledger Wallet; check current compatibility before transferring funds.
What is QRL’s maximum supply?
As of 2026-11-08, about 78.4 million QRL were circulating, with a maximum supply of 105 million. Proof-of-work mining is one way new coins may be generated under the network’s rules.
Are QRL transaction fees fixed?
A QRL transfer incurs a network fee, and exchanges may charge separate withdrawal fees. The amount can vary, so review the fee shown before confirming a transfer.
What is the market cap of Quantum Resistant Ledger?
