Owning HANDL: Uses, Storage and Risks

HandlPay describes HANDL as a utility token for its peer-to-peer payment platform. The platform is designed to let people send and receive stablecoins using linked identifiers such as Gmail, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram or X, rather than sharing a wallet address. Its listed payment methods include USDC, credit and debit cards, and Apple Pay.

HANDL is intended for paying platform transaction fees, accessing premium features and supporting adoption of the service. That does not mean you need HANDL for every payment the platform supports: the project does not publish a complete fee schedule or explain which features require the token. Check the app’s current terms before relying on HANDL for a specific function.

The social-handle approach may make payments easier to address, but it does not remove the need to confirm who controls a handle. Before sending funds, verify the recipient and the amount through a trusted channel. A payment sent to the wrong account or address may be difficult or impossible to reverse.

HANDL is issued on Base and Polygon. HandlPay’s payment platform lists support for Canton Network, Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Avalanche and Binance Smart Chain; those payment rails should not be confused with the chains on which the token is issued. The project also says HANDL trades on decentralized exchanges across Base, Polygon and Canton Network, as well as on MEXC.

To hold HANDL yourself, use a wallet that supports the relevant network and the token’s verified contract. A wallet supporting Base does not automatically support Polygon or other networks. Check the network and contract details against an official HandlPay channel before adding a token or making a transfer; a similarly named token may not be genuine.

If you withdraw from an exchange, select the same network supported by the receiving wallet. Sending tokens on an incompatible network can make them inaccessible. Keep a small amount of the network’s native gas token where needed to pay transaction fees, and test with a modest transfer if you are unfamiliar with the process.

HANDL has a maximum and total supply of 1 billion tokens. Approximately 690.1 million were circulating as of November 8, 2026, leaving the difference between circulating supply and the maximum supply outside circulation at that point. Circulating supply can change, so treat these figures as a dated snapshot rather than a guarantee of how many tokens are currently available to trade.

A capped maximum supply does not by itself explain when remaining tokens may enter circulation or who controls them. Before assessing dilution risk, look for the project’s current token allocation, release schedule and any information about team, treasury or ecosystem holdings. HandlPay’s stated token uses do not establish how much demand HANDL will have.

The token’s market price and trading activity can move sharply, especially for a relatively small asset. A quoted price, market capitalization or volume is only a snapshot and may vary between exchanges. Do not treat a recent rise or fall as evidence of what HANDL will do next.

If you hold HANDL in a self-custody wallet, protect the recovery phrase offline and never share it with someone claiming they need it to help with a payment. Use a device you keep updated, enable strong account security on any exchange you use, and double-check the network, recipient and token contract before signing a transaction. A blockchain transfer is generally difficult to undo once confirmed.

HANDL holders face ordinary crypto risks as well as project-specific ones: the token’s price may fall, trading may be thin, and the app’s services or token utility may change. Using social handles for payments also creates account-linking and impersonation risks. A familiar username is not proof that you have the right recipient, and a platform’s privacy features do not guarantee that every payment or related record is private.

Before using the service, check its current privacy and security practices, token contract information and any independent security review you can verify. Do not keep funds in the app or token that you cannot afford to lose.
