What can you do with BGBTC?

BGBTC is Bitget’s wrapped version of Bitcoin, intended to track BTC at a 1:1 ratio. Holding it can let you use a BTC-linked asset in Ethereum-based DeFi, rather than moving native BTC directly into those applications. Bitget says you can stake BGBTC through Bitget Earn; it also describes partnerships with Bitcoin DeFi projects that may offer reward points, with possible token airdrops after those projects’ token generation events. Those points or future airdrops are not guaranteed returns, and their value can be uncertain. BGBTC is not native Bitcoin: you rely on Bitget’s issuance and redemption arrangements, as well as the token’s market liquidity and any DeFi service you choose. The 1:1 peg is the intended relationship, not a promise that you can always sell BGBTC for exactly one BTC on every market.

Which chain and wallet can hold BGBTC?

BGBTC is issued on Ethereum, not as a native asset on Bitcoin. It is described as an ERC-20 token, so you generally need an Ethereum-compatible wallet or a Bitget account that supports BGBTC. A self-custody wallet must be set to Ethereum, and you should confirm that the wallet and receiving service support this specific token before sending it. Sending BGBTC to a Bitcoin address, or to an unsupported network or exchange deposit address, can result in lost funds. The token’s contract address is important because a similarly named token may not be the same asset; verify it through Bitget’s official channels before interacting with it. Keeping BGBTC in a Bitget account means Bitget controls the keys; holding it in a self-custody wallet means you control the keys and are responsible for their security.

How much BGBTC exists, and what changes its supply?

As of 2026-11-08, the reported circulating and total supply were both 1,384 BGBTC, with no maximum supply stated. The token’s stated purpose and 1:1 BTC peg mean its supply can be expected to change as BGBTC is issued or redeemed through Bitget’s subscription and redemption process; the amount outstanding is not a fixed cap. Bitget’s public description does not establish the reserve details or an independent verification process, so do not treat the peg alone as proof of backing. The same date’s reported market price was about $75,943, with a market capitalization of about $105.1 million and 24-hour trading volume of about $254,711. These figures move and do not guarantee that you can trade at the displayed price. The reported all-time high was $87,138 on 2026-09-23, and the all-time low was $58,296 on 2026-06-30.

How do you get, redeem and store BGBTC?

Bitget describes a subscription channel for obtaining BGBTC and a redemption channel for exchanging it back through Bitget. Before using either, check the current eligibility rules, minimums, processing times and any charges; Bitget does not publish those details in the project description. You may also encounter BGBTC through supported trading services, but availability and withdrawal support can vary by platform. For self-custody, use an Ethereum-compatible wallet, verify the token contract and network, and keep your recovery phrase offline and private. For an exchange account, review its custody and withdrawal rules: an account balance is not the same as controlling the wallet keys yourself. Test the destination details carefully before sending a substantial amount. Do not assume a BTC deposit address accepts BGBTC, or that a service supports withdrawals simply because it displays a BGBTC balance.

What can it cost to move or use BGBTC?

Moving BGBTC on Ethereum generally requires an ETH balance to pay network gas. The fee is set by Ethereum conditions and can rise when the network is busy; it is separate from BGBTC’s value. Bitget’s subscription, redemption and withdrawal charges are not published in the project description, so check the current terms before committing to a transaction. DeFi use may add other costs, such as a protocol fee or another Ethereum transaction, depending on the service. BGBTC is listed as an Ethereum asset, and no supported bridge route or bridge fee is specified; do not assume you can move it safely to another chain. A wrong network selection can make an asset inaccessible, while a failed or reverted transaction may still consume gas. Confirm the fee estimate, destination network and receiving address before signing or submitting.

What could go wrong while you hold BGBTC?

The main risk is that BGBTC depends on Bitget’s ability to issue and redeem it as intended. If redemption is delayed or unavailable, or confidence in the peg weakens, BGBTC may trade below the value of BTC. Bitget’s description does not establish reserve composition, independent reserve attestations or an audit, so you cannot infer those protections from the 1:1 peg claim. You also face Ethereum risks: a mistaken transfer, compromised wallet or smart-contract problem can lead to losses. DeFi staking adds protocol, liquidity and reward risks; points and possible future airdrops are not guaranteed income. Trading volume may be limited, making it harder to exit at a quoted price. Treat BGBTC as a separate, issuer-dependent token rather than identical to BTC, and review the current redemption terms and any DeFi contract before using it.

When did BGBTC launch, and what uses are planned?

Bitget announced BGBTC on 2024-12-11 as a wrapped Bitcoin token intended to let BTC holders access DeFi while retaining a BTC-linked position. The project’s stated uses include subscriptions and redemptions through Bitget, staking through Bitget Earn, and planned integrations with Bitcoin DeFi projects. Bitget has also described BGPoints that participating users may earn through partner projects and that may be convertible into airdropped tokens after those projects’ token generation events. These plans and potential rewards can change, and an announced use case is not the same as a guaranteed service or return. For you as a holder, the practical questions remain whether BGBTC is supported where you want to use it, whether you can redeem it on acceptable terms, and whether you are comfortable relying on Bitget and any additional DeFi protocols.

By the numbers

Bitget Wrapped BTC in numbers

Bitget Wrapped BTC (BGBTC) is ranked #264 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $105M and a price of $75,943 as of Nov 8, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($105M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 2.4% over 7 days, down 7.5% over 30 days. It trades about 13% below its all-time high of $87,138, set on Sep 23, 2026.

BGBTC FAQs

Is BGBTC the same as Bitcoin?

BGBTC is designed to track Bitcoin at a 1:1 ratio, but it is a separate token issued on Ethereum. Its market price can differ from BTC, and redemption depends on Bitget’s process and terms.

Which network is BGBTC on?

BGBTC is issued on Ethereum and is described as an ERC-20 token. Use an Ethereum-compatible wallet or a service that specifically supports BGBTC, and verify the token contract and network before sending.

Can you redeem BGBTC for BTC?

Bitget describes subscription and redemption channels for BGBTC. Check its current rules, processing conditions and charges before relying on redemption; the 1:1 peg does not ensure instant access at all times.

What fees apply when you transfer BGBTC?

Ethereum transactions generally require ETH for gas, and the cost changes with network activity. Bitget’s subscription, redemption and withdrawal charges are not published in the project description, so confirm current fees directly before transacting.

Can you earn rewards with BGBTC?

Bitget says users can stake BGBTC through Bitget Earn and may earn partner-project reward points that could later be converted into airdrops. Rewards are not guaranteed, and staking adds platform, protocol and liquidity risks.
